I am sorry you're having so much trouble. One thing is for sure never ever skip breakfast! Also you need to eat whole foods and a lot less process. Fresh or frozen veggies and fruits (without additives or sauces), lean meats, beans, nuts, whole grains, and low fat or fat free dairy. Juices also tend to be loaded with extra sugars that you don't need. It's so much better to eat the fruit. Since you are having some physical pain I would walk very short distances throughout the day as you can. I wouldn't focus on just exercise. Focus on your diet as your body gets the nutrients it needs it will start to heal and you will feel better. Also did you do sometimes depression is linked to diet? My philosophy is eat bad foods and you will have bad thoughts which in turn causes depression. I am not a doctor but I do this lifestyle change has changed my whole life and the way I think. Take things slow so they will sink in better. Keep reading and posting. Ask any questions you wish. We are all here to help you in any way possible. Good luck!

Welcome Pricekid! Glad you posted. Amber is an expert as she has lost and has been maintaining the loss. Listen to her advice. The only thing I would add is to start tracking your food on the food tracker here or at fitday.com. Both are free and it is eye opening to see how many calories you actually consume. Also, they give you a breakdown on nutrients which is just as important. Your body will respond and start healing itself if you fuel it with proper nutrition.

Best of luck on your journey. There are a bunch of caring ladies on this board who will support you.

Don't despair too much. Life can become so much better, starting today. Weight loss is a long process, but it can happen gradually.

So many people in exactly the same situation and with the same feelings have turned things around, and so can you.

Maybe start with eating regular smallish meals at regular meal times, with one or two healthy snacks allowed in the day, just to get your body used to a new routine.

Walking for exercise would be a good start.

Keep posting!

Hi, PriceKid, I welcome you from the bottom of my heart. I'm sorry you feel depressed right now. But , I promise you, it will get better if you are willing to make some changes.
Like Debbie(abnersmom) said, Amber is one of our "leaders" but Debbie is no slouch either. If you look closely at her weightloss so far she has lost over 90 lbs.
Debbie,Amber,Judy(Jis4Judy),Helene,Tomatoe,Marybeth...YOU.... the list is pretty extensive on this section of WebMD, and we are all in this together. One thing I can definitely say, YOU WILL NEVER BE ALONE and will never be without advise or compassion, here on the 50-100 site.
As for your back, a little exercise will help strengthen it, and since I have arthritis across my hips and lower back from an accident, I think I can help you with this part.
Please go to Sparkpeople.com. You don't have to join, but look at their free, downloadable exercise videos. The one I would love for you to try is the 12 min seated CORE video. It's done all from a seated position and will help strengthen all of your core muscles, also known as your erector muscles, the ones that wrap from your upper tummy around to your lower back. It's a pretty easy exercise video but if done daily, you will start to see a diff in about a week in how you hold yourself posture wise.
I also just walk. I can't even jog because the stress on my hips is too much, but I started out with a few blocks , then went to half a mile and now , in 3 months time am walking a mile a day in about 25 min. I don't try to add more, but I am trying to do it a little faster now as I go.
As for your meals, like Debbie, I always suggest that ppl start by tracking their foods. I strongly emphasize that during shopping , you should try to do 90% raw/fresh items. fresh meats, fresh veggies, fresh skim milk/almond milk or soy milk, yogurts, eggs. If you think of your supermarket, it's most of the stuff found in the "outer ring" of the grocery section. BEWARE of and READ lables for EVERYTHING on the inner aisles. Make wiser choices. Like I like miracle whip, and save about 1/2 the calories and fats if I buy the fat free MW.
Think about what a food can give you in nutrients for the calories it costs you to eat it. Like sweet potatoes or Peruvian blues have way more nutrients than a regular white potatoe, which is mostly starch.
And above all, blog blog blog, lol. We love to hear from everyone, new ideas , shared recipes, bad times and good times, everything.
Again, good to have you aboard.

Hi pricekid
welcome aboard follow Ambers lead she has the right method of removeing weight it is all about the food choices and portion control ... Have you dicontinued the depo shots ?
I am sure they are partially responsible for some of the extra weight .. But you can take control back and live a healthy life as you remove unwanted weight you can begin slowly to exercise after a while the exercise will take care of the deppression,, it worked for me
Hugs Judy:)

Thanks for the kind words, Kim. I feel good about where I am now, but still FEAR the maintenance phase when I get there. I remember all the times that I've lost and somehow slowly managed to gain it all back. I want you all to kick my butt if I start backsliding! Amber may have to do it as she is the closest. With all the running she's doing, I wouldn't be able to get away!

Oh yeah, Kim. I think staying here to help keep the focus with the help of all the caring ladies will be my best weapon against gaining again. BUT, Amber needs to be on the alert just in case!

Hi pricekid, it's been 2 weeks since your last post how are you doing?
you know that you can't change everything at the same time. Make small goals and stick to them. Then you can add another change and without knowing you will have healthy habits.

I started by searching on different sites.
I paid for WW and Jillian.
Read on Mayo clinic and I found on WebMd the support of others with the same quest of healthy eating and exercising.

But the thing that triggered the start of the weight lost came from the search within. I said enough is enough, I deserve to be healthy, I diserve to walk without my thies rubbing with each others LOL, I deserve to walk with my husbands without being out of breath. I deserve to live to see my grand childrens.

What do you deserve ?
