Good article, Judy. Just reinforces how the food we consume affects everything, including our moods. How weird that we crave the carbs when we are stressed and yet they make our moods worse. You'd think our bodies would know better.

yes It is weird that Our bodies are so vulnerable to bad choices we have to protect it from itself ... the only things I don;t use of the 13 is oysters and camamile tea . the rest of them are regulars in my journey ...oh also cashews I haven;t had them but would if I wasn;t allready eating other nuts .

LOL Judy! I have the perfect remedy for you to get the last two items on the list of 13 into your diet.... Chinese Chicken and Cashews. The sauce is Oyster sauce. So there you have it. If you make your own I'm sure you can cut out some of the calories and the sodium from regular "Chinese Takeout".

I watched The Weight of the Nation last night on HBO. Fascinating! If you get HBO, I highly recommend it. I bring it up because they had a whole segment on stress and the cortisol that said the same things as in the article. However, they explained that back when we were hunters and gatherers, the increase in appetite under stress was our bodies way of providing extra energy. Of course, back then, stress was avoiding starvation or some giant beast.

Hi Debbie I watch the weight of the nation on demand
there are several episodes/// i watch 3 tonight I did learn something that I suspected for some time.. that my metobolism is slower than someone my size that never got heavy and had maintained their weight all their adult life . Just by the fact that I removed weight I will have to eat about 20% less than someone who never gained and lost weight
I noticed that in the time I am maintaining that I am still averageing 1500 cals in maintainance...

abnersmom replied to Jis4Judy's response:
Yes, Judy, I saw that one too. Certainly helps explain why people who go back to eating like a "normal" person (not overeat, but normal guidelines for hgt and wgt) regain the weight! This just reemphasizes for me the importance of continuing to weigh myself and track my food forever.
