Hi everyone!

I am using this tool site for the first time. I was doing weight watchers but was not focused ( fees were not a motivator either) so I started here. I am at 250lbs. and want to loose a total of 80 - 90lbs. I am 5'10". I started my daily walks and weight lifting (light) routine. Just wanting a cheering squad for when times get rough. My biggest stumbling blocks are emotional eating, bad PMS (I take vitamins) and anything chocolate.

Hi Leimaro. Welcome to WebMd 50-100 club. Since you were doing WW you probably have at least a small handle on what to eat and what not to and proper portion sizes.
A lot of us here are home cooks so we know our way around the kitchen. We toss around recipes that we have tried and liked and suggest some alternatives to items in recipes when someone is stuck.
Please clik on our pics and read some past blog input for each of us and you will see, we all have setbacks, all have cravings that we deal with and all have come searching here when it's gotten tough to go it alone.
And, here, you are never alone.
First, a suggestion, if you haven't already signed up for the WebMd food and nutrition guide, do so. Or do the one on Fitday.com that some of our ppl are using. You can easily chart your exercise and food intake daily along with weigh ins.
It's all private unless you want to share. If you do want to share a backstory and your Goal,Current weight, and starting weight, and be able to change it at will, I suggest after signing in you come to the blog site ,clik on your picture and add comments etc. then hit save. These can be changed as you drop weight and gain better prespective. Clik on any one of us and you will see our backstories if we have one.

I was around 250 when I started my journey I am 5 inches shorter than you so I was fatter ...
the emotional eating is best to find out what emotions you are being bothered by and deal with the emotion don;t feed it .
I find takeing a brisk walk can clear my head ...

also I found that keeping the trigger foods out of my house helps a lot if you don;t buy it you won;t eat it //
You do know the food choices toward healier stuff is mnore important than the exercise althiugh the exercise is good it won;t work alone..

Welcome Leimaro,
Like Kim said WW is good to get a base line. But you have to figure out the triggers of emotional eating. For me, most of the time it is boredom and laziness. So if I keep buzzy I don`t eat as much. PMS is tricky, here is a site I found.
http://www.pmscomfort.com/pms-pmdd-symptoms/pms-overeating-binges.aspx

You start with day one. And then one more and soon you will see changes, you will feel better your clothes will fill looser....
Something it will be one hour at the time. Just keep on going. And log in to share your progress and struggles.

Thank you Jis4Judy for you welcome! I love dark chocolate and prefer it over milk. Even though I tend to eat less dchoc thank mchoc I can still eat to much of it. I decided to give up choc all together until I feel I have more control over food (including emotional eating). Hopefully, that won't take long! I always hear "don't deprive yourself" but if I eat one piece, I will want to eat more, nonstop! I'm trying to stick to fruit and Altoids to curb the cravings.

Thank you mefirstforever! I checked out the pmscomfort site, looks like what I have been looking for. I have very bad PMS (very bad) both physically and emotionally. Mostly, for 2 1/2 weeks I am inflicted with PMS in one way or another. I recently, started taking a cocktail of vitamins that help deal with it.

The site confirms what I have always expected my cravings, eating habits, and emotional swings are connected to PMS. I never new that I could deal with effectively until now.
Whew! Thanks for your suggestion.

Hi Leimaro
I was the same way with icecream I still can't trust myself with it in the house.. so I used it in a different way . I decided to only have icre cream if I stayed on my plan for better nutrition one whole month with no other slips then and only then I could get a scoop at an ice cream shoppe . this took away any feeling I had of being deprived ...just putting conditions on iit took it's power away ... eventually i got so wrapped up in my nutrition quest as i called it I forgot to go out for the darn ice cream ..
I di have it 3 times the first year less the second and one year I didn;t get any at all ...BUT if it was in my freezer I could still lose control ...So it is no longer welcome in my home LOL
Just make some kind of plan for that chocolate and see if you can control it ... beware I did have to fight off vivid craveings for my icecream at first I did white knuckle it ...It is better to focus on something other than the desired item ...
I have been maintaining now approx 8 years I started my quest in April 2003 and still on it .

Leimaro, I was the same way with chocolate. It literally was nothing for me to sit down with a big bag of Doves and go through the whole thing in an evening. Just nonstop mindless munching (and of course, reading the promises, lol)
Now, I do this, I buy a box of that Bakers Semi sweet chocolate in the baking aisle. 1/2 of one of those prewrapped squares is 70 calories, and I lick it like a sucker. By the time I've licked to the end, I find that my chocolate craving is over and done with. Lately, though with trying new recipes, like that Pumpkin Smoothie, I just havent had the urge for chocolate.
I think as I gain more recipes geared toward feeding my individual taste preference, in effect giving myself options and control, then I'm finding that I'm experiencing less and less "out of control" eating binges. It really isn't about deprivation anymore, it's just that I don't want/crave it now.

you can call me Helene, We put our name at the bottom of comments.
Try to right down, I love the site Fitday.com to count the calories it's free, it helped me to keep track of food intake but especially the quality. A well balanced food nutriment can help with the mood swings.
I love soy milk or tofu.

I know what you mean about not wanting to crave something after a while. I cut out chips (all kinds) about 3 months ago and I don't even think about eating them anymore. I have done the same with ice cream. That one was hard considering it was my favorite desert. Pies and donuts I don't care for. All I have left is chocolate and cakes. Trying process of elimination.

And, thanks all for the encouraging words and advice!
