The monster nearly got hold of me today, when I met a friend for coffee at a coffee shop. She is really, really skinny - the type with stick legs. She has 2 kids (age 3 and 1). She has a real catwalk model body.

Yet, while I was sipping my black tea, she was indulging in a latte and a scone with preserves and cream. Nothing seems to make her put on weight ever.

I was feeling fat and frumpy, but tried to focus my mind on things other than weight. I am 15 years older than her anyway (although I am sure she will still be very slender when she reaches my age).

I have to focus on improving myself for myself, not comparing myself to others!

Yes tomato there will allways be someone that is thinner not nessesarily healthier than we are . the only thing we can really do is be the best us we can be .it is kinda a waste of time to envy someone elses body. when I was younger I was a tad too skinny and still sick so I am healthier now but not that thin so it is the healthy eating more than the weight removal that has made the difference I think .. So strive to be healthier instead of skinny this works to help your mind get on board at least it did for me ...

Hi Tomato. When I was in middle school, I had a friend that loved to eat. Lol, so I fed her. She didn't have a stick thin frame, but was one of those "early bloomers" that had it ALL going on in All the right places and I was my same ole chubby self but my weight never went to my boobs just my belly and butt. So, she kinda made me jealous...... that said, we'd go to the local icecream parlor ( ) and order a hot fudge sundae to split. I'd take a few bites and insist that I'd just eaten so she should finish it , if she wanted (hey, it salved my conscience by making it her choice lol) .
Of course , being raised by her grandparents , she never left food uneaten... needless to say, I think she gained about 20 lbs in a couple of summers.... I didn't get boobs till I got pregnant, but at least she gained a bit of a tummy in the interum .
Not nice, but effective
Anyway, your skinny friend sounds like she has a revved metabloism which maybe something to covet. But remember. People, especially women, that have thinner frames and have been and always be skinny also tend to get osteoporosis more often. And that, isn't something to covet. Also, maybe she has alot of "nervous energy".
She could also be putting on "airs" for you. She may be one of those people that eats in front of people to show that she doesn't starve herself, but then goes days without so much as a nibble to make up for it when noone is looking. You aren't with her 24/7 so you don't know what goes on behind closed doors.
You just worry about you and your health and your journey. We will all make it through this and come out healthier and hopefully a bit smaller in the process.

Hi Tomato,
Yap it is frustrating sometime. But everyone is different.
About that feeling, you must feel beautiful for yourself stand strait. Beauty is not one size.
I think that she must be careful most of the time and keeps extra calories to indulge when she goes out.
We are all multi facet and perfection is not in this world.

The thing that helps me is I think to myself just because they can eat that way doesn't mean I can. You can be skinny and unhealthy at the same time. If a doctor ran blood test would she have normal counts? Also like Kim stated you are not with her 24/7 so she could be putting on airs. I had a friend that her mother was so obsessed with her being able to wear bikini she would only eat a few crackers a day. Her mom would think it was very gross to be overweight and she thought you should starve yourself to get there. By the time you have completed your journey you will feel so relieved that you did it the right way. I brag on my accomplishment because I didn't have to do anything crazy to get where I am at. No one can eat what they want without any consequences whether it be to gain weight or have an unhealthy body. Remember we only have one life to live so live long and healthy.

Amber your so right, I saw my doctor on Tuesday and no cholesterol, no diabetic, and my blood pressure is perfect.

I'm careful in to eat low fat intake, I don't eat much red meat. Control quantity to maintain. Lots of fruits and vegetables.
Now if my life would be less stressful I could concentrate on myself.
I should be able to do it. I see Momixali with kids, daycare and she did so well. by the way also missing in action??

Very wise words, all of you.

I will strive to be both thin and healthy, regardless of what others are like around me.

No point in wanting to be the waif in the room if it means you have to punish yourself to become just that!

I hope your move went well, Amber. I'm moving in about 3 weeks, eek. Not looking forward to that, but will look at it as an opportunity amongs other things to be busy and distracted from food.
