HCG: dangerous?

eleveneleven47 posted:
My boyfriend and I are looking into starting the HCG drops and 500 calorie diet. He has done some research and hasn't found anything dangerous about it, but my mom is worried to the max. I'm trying to get feedback and see what other people have heard/read, if i'm missing something. at this point the only thing preventing us from starting is the money, but once we have it, we will start. we're both preparing our minds to deal with 500 calories only. i just need to know if there's any solid proof it's dangerous, like reported deaths or disease, or if it's just speculation.

thanks,

also, I am on Implanon (implanted birth control) Abilify, Celexa and Minocycline-- anyone know if the hormone in HCG interacts with (mostly the psych meds and Implanon) these?

Oh man. I'm not even going to get into the HCG argument side. My advice is don't do it. You'd be better off using the money on some new gym equiment, cooking supplies, and healthy foods.

As far as interacting with other drugs, PLEASE SEE YOUR DOCTOR!!! Those are all drugs not to be messed with. We cannot give medical advice. I did a tiny bit of research just now. HCG is used in some infertility treatments for women. Based on that, I'd say there's a good chance it may affect your birth control. And you definitely don't want to mess around with unknown substances while on psych meds. Again, please see your doctor.

Any time you want to start (or stop) a drug or suppliment, you should first consult a doctor. ESPECIALLY if it is a drug that has been removed from over the counter sales by the FDA. There's definitely something going on when they pull a drug off the shelves and make it unavailable for general sales.
Since you are on these other drugs out of necessity, don't go screwing around with your health and mental fitness. Go to the doctor. I would also write the American Medical association , and would definitely ask my psychologist/psychiatrist about the drug interactions. Specialists are just that, they will be more informed than a general practitioner about their profession specific drugs that are prescribed to you.

Yes please consult your doctor! Also if you look at several boardies' profiles you will see that we done it the ole fashion way without drugs or surgeries. Yes it was hard but I didn't damage my body by doing please weigh your options with a professional before doing this.
