Food for thought, as we need to feed the mind as well as the body!

"Look to this day. In it lie all the realities and verities of existence, the bliss of growth, the splendor of action, the glory of power."

Have a good day.

Oh, I understood what you meant!

Yes, that's the essence - seize the day; live for today. Good approach for when you're trying to lose weight of course.

Oh, the glory of the power being on! Ha ha. Nice quote. There was the old saying that went something like "treat life as a gift, that's why we call it the present."

Yes, we do have to continue to keep our eyes and minds open for the knowledge that will help us to achieve our goals....it IS around us each day.

Lately, I have been intrigued with Dalai Lama's quotes. One that I am shortening is :"Man works so hard to make alot of money that health is destroyed ........then, spends all the money to rebuild health."

Rohvannyn replied to jean4u's response:
That is an interesting quote, Barb. I wonder what the Dalai Lama would say to those of us who ruin our health trying to work hard enough just so we can eat food that isn't laden with toxins? Yes, it's cheaper to eat healthy, but it's not cheaper to eat than cheap junk full of chemicals and white flower like ramen noodles and mac and cheese and spaghetti.

All honor to the Dalai Lama, but he forgets that not all of us are busting our butts to become rich, many of us are busting our butts to keep our heads above water, and that is WHILE FOREGOING things like expensive phone bills, cable TV, fancy cars, and all the other extra things that are commonly brought up when people say they have to work hard.

Just something to think about.

Good quote, Barb. The Dalai Lama also emphasized that we should strive to be happy.

That is easier said than done, I suppose! Sometimes we know what we need to do to be happier, but the execution can be tricky!

The secret of happiness, and this is the hardest thing for me to remember, is to remember that we always have a choice of how to react to situations. We are not in control of the situation but we are in control of how we face it.

I'm convinced this is the real secret behind everything. When I remember this and keep it in mind, my life gets a lot better.

TotallyWiggedOut replied to Rohvannyn's response:
I feel that. I love the Dalai Lama for his attitude and just the CONCEPT of his personna, like I always had great respect for Mother Theresa and all of the Popes. I'm Baptist born but some of these people are just important in so many ways to so many people, that they deserve respect and admiration I guess is how I feel.
But, you are right. I'm feeling drowned with the day to day struggle just to be able to pay the bills and eat as healthy as possible. It's getting tougher too. and with the heat and dry spells we are experiencing the damned groceries are gonna go up yet again. And it's definitely gonna hurt.

Point well taken, Roh, when there is no where left to cut in one's budget. Gas prices are all over the place. Seems to me that healthy, "clean" foods should be lower in price as these are linked to promote good health and less medical needs and costs.

Tomato, when I accepted the fact, too, that I am not responsible for other people's happiness, that was somewhat life altering. I actually had the notion tjhat I was the happiness "fairey" for my daughters and parents. Not to say that I do, do clever and kind things, but how they react is on them.
