I saw The Diary of Bridget Jones again a few days ago on a TV channel - that's the movie where Renee Zellweger had to put on a pile of weight for her role.

She was amazing in losing the weight afterwards (twice, for a follow-up of the movie). I don't have details of how she did it (probably had a lot of professional help), and I don't usually make actresses my role models, but I couldn't help thinking of her situation after the movie (before she started losing the weight).

She must have felt some of the same despair I feel; yet she chose to tackle the weight loss issue head on without delay. Had she not done so, she could have remained "plump Bridget" instead of the petite Renee she is now.

After stuffing herself for 3 months to gain the weight, she must have missed some of those foods that she got used too. But she chose to eat sensible food instead.

Must focus to make excellent choices today! (which will hopefully be easier to repeat tomorrow).

Good luck to you all for a "good choice" day!

IDK , but the added incentive of someone paying me millions of dollars to gain 50 lbs then another few million to get back into shape for my next roll, would make the going a little LESS rough, lol.
Meaning that you could basically afford any guy with a smokin hot bod to help you exercise, then another one to rub your sore muscles..... Ummmmmm, yeh.

It was hilarious when I saw it a few years ago.
A lot of actors and actresses gain and lose weight for roles they play But as Kim mentioned they have the money and time to focus on self and can aford a personal trainer ..

Love that movie. Maybe it was that blue soup they made that helped her lose her appetite.

Speaking of good choices, I was super excited yesterday. My friend and I decided to do a dinner date together, and we decided to go to a steakhouse. Usually this would be like a Perfect Storm of bad situations for me, an impromptu meal, out of the house, at a steak place (which I tend to go nuts at)...But all I had was ONE piece of bread, a "skinny" margarita, and one of their "under 500 calories" selections of steak and veggies on their menu.

Very liberating to be free of my insane food impulses....the last time I went out for steak, I wound up getting one stuffed with cheese and bacon! Don't get me wrong, it was so good, but c'mon. That's kind of ridiculous.

Yes, the movie was hilarious. She played the clumsy girl so well, poor thing always attracting misfortune.

But even though she had all that help with weight loss, she must still have battled with cravings and temptations too in a way- some things even money can't prevent!

To me anyone who loses weight successfully is a marvel, rich or poor.

Good for you for making wise choices, Pi!

I'm gonna "weigh In" on Bridget Jones too. I really liked the movie, very funny.
I don't know about you guys, but I've always liked Renee Z's body just a little heavier. Sometimes she carries the skinny a bit far and with her already translucent skin, it makes her look sickly very fast if she doesn't have some body fat.
Pi, Nice job on the food choices. You even got in a drink and I bet still came in under the "stuffed steak" choice from the time before. You go girl!

Way to go, Pi! Good control because I know what you mean about the temptations at a steakhouse. It's nice that most of them now offer meals with smaller portions and veggies.

Tomato,

I would probably pack on weight for a movie role, then just keep it on. Accepting the role, thinking I would lose the weight but just never getting around to doing it. But then again if I did have money for chefs and (cute) personal trainers, maybe I would make it be in my contract to lock me up until I got the weight off.

I reall liked that movie and Renee in that role.

Once again, Tomato, you give us food for thought. We can think of our lives as a "role" which we script....do we choose to be the (plump) movie Bridget or the slim in control Renee. Daily choices can get us to either one.

Let's make it "good choice" day!

Pi, WTG on your good restaurant choices.

Ha, ha about being "insane" at the restaurant(s). I feel like I lose my mind sometimes, too. But then get jerked back into reality when I get on the old scale. Really hits me upside the head. LOL

On the subject of eating out, I had a non-scale victory yesterday. I had to attend a luncheon honoring my summer Scholar's academy. Grilled chicken, a small serving of salad (dressing was full fat I'm afraid). Then I met my sister for dinner out. I had already made up my mind that I would just have a planned splurge, but when I got to the restaurant and had a piece of their delicious bread, I kind of changed my mind. Ended up having a 6 oz. sirloin with steamed broccoli and a small salad. I'm sure I went over on cals, but hey, I was thinking ribs or something equally as bad when I went in there!

I don't know. But that's the same size sirloin I get when I go to Longhorn and that dinner comes in at 580 I think so that's not so bad really. Esp. for a dinner out. You definitely coulda done more damage if you'd have had the other things you thought about, lol.
I was surprised to find that my steak dinner was almost 1000 calories lower than my bf ribs that he likes to order. There are some REALLY nasty diet killers out there, so you did good!

Thanks, Kim. I'd love to join your bf in a big plate of ribs - love those things, but they're relegated to the rare treat now. I'll have to look up the cals for the restaurant that I went to - I've got to be like you and remember to do that. Hope it cools off for you soon. We had rain today so it was much cooler - only got up to 90 - a cold front, LOL.
