    Hi guys!!! Just got back in from Kiroli Park. Had a cookout with my BF and the chitlins, lol. Started the charcoal and sent the kids off on a trail walk. They forgot to take their map of the park and Michael kept wondering if they were getting lost, lol..... All the trails lead back into the main park area but a couple of them are LOOOOOOONG trails. They were back within a reasonable amount of time though, so I suppose if I really want to lose them, I'll have to find a bigger harder trail park,
    BBQ chicken thighs and boneless country ribs... had a small pc of pork and a skinless thigh, something didn't agree with me though, feeling way full and really bloated.
    I did break down and have a slice of the apple pie I made. Don't feel guilty about it at all, since I'd not eaten today up till then.
    If I start to feel better , hopefully I will, I'll have toasted pita triangles baby carrots and some hummus later for snack, because I am absolutely positive I didn't get enough calories in yet today.

    Thats sounds like you had a great day with the family
    and didn;t do so bad on eating either.
    I tried something new for my yogurt today instead of the honey sweetener I added in 2 Tablespoons ovaltine a small banana a tiny one and just a few raspberries..It was yummy probably not as good as your home made apple pie though / so far all is ok for me canker is gone I think you were right it was probably a cut from that hard candy I indulged in..

    Kim - no need indeed to feel guilty about the apple pie. I am sure it was worth it, and besides, it fitted in with your calories for the day.

    Glad the canker is gone now. I thought it was hilarious that you tested it with a hot pepper instead of something sweet like and orange or something. You must really like your spicey hots!
    Tomato, yeh, certainly not a very healthy choice with the pie. This recipe , wow. I'll share it on the other site but not here , unless I can figure out a way to make it lighter. Well, I did some "fixing" to it already, I called for a cup of chopped pecans in the crumble topping and I sub'd 1/2 cup of rolled oats... but there's a creamy addition that takes 1c of heavy cream , I was going to try half and half but was afraid it was too thin, and this being my first time with this recipe, I just wanted to try as is, sorta... lol
    As a celebration type of thing , it was maybe a better choice than brownies or a frosted cake.

    Hi Kim that pie sounds like a pie I used to make my Hubby called it shoo fly apple pie . I don;t make it anymore..
    the reason I added the ovaltine to my yogurt was I was undecided whether I would have hot cocoa or the yogurt so combined the 2 I wasn;t sure the ovaltine would mix in the yogurt without being grainy but it did,,, was pretty yummy tasted like a custard with the greek yogurt .. Gonna try it in oatmeal next see what happens ..
    My daughter makes an apple pie that has a crumble topping and it is pretty yummy at holiday time.

    It could very easily be a shoo fly type, because of the sugar cream addition. It didn't end up scary sweet because I used half braeburn and half granny smiths which made it just about the right texture and sweet/tartness. The apple mix was fine, now that I know I can make it I'll mix it up and try it with splenda, molasses(as a sub for the br sugar) , and ff half and half. I still think it'll work, I just have to maybe add a bit more flour as thickener.
    Meh, I'm always up for a challenge in the kitchen!
