    Stacie's Story
    mardee posted:
It is kind of a long story, but I promise you will want to read it!

A truly wonderful and inspirational story
My roommate has a sister named Stacie and here is her story.

When she was 18 she met the love of her life, got married and got pregnant. She got extremely sick when she was 16 week along and lost the baby. She continued to be sick for over a month and they could not find out what was wrong. They found out that she had an issue with her hormones being off balanced which caused her immune system to take a dump.
They stabled out her hormones and she started to get healthy once more. Then something else happened. She went from a healthy 150 pound woman to 230 pounds in just under a year. She was still extremely active and not changed her eating habits. Once again, the doctors could not figure out what was wrong, the only thing that they did know, it that she was not getting any better. Specialist after specialist, they found out the hormone replacements that she was on, was counter acting other hormones in her body that had caused all of this rapid weight gain.
The weight gain had caused so many other health issues such as a heart condition, high blood pressure, gastric issues and diabetes. On top of it all, she was told that she could never have kids because of these issues and her weight. The specialist told her that there was no real treatment to reverse what was already done because of the heart condition; they could only keep her condition "stable" where it was at.
She went into a deep depression and got to over 300 pounds. To this day, she will still not admit to what her weight was at her worst. All of this happened in a matter of two and a half years.
Finally, her wonderful loving husband decided that he was fed up with the medical field not willing to help her; he took matters into his own hands. He put her on a strict diet, and I am talking only 900-1000 calories a day. But it was a lot of food, just really healthy, low calorie food so she did not feel deprived. With her heart condition, she was not able to do cardio in fear of having a fatal episode. So they work on light muscle building and slowly worked up and up.
In just 6 months, she had lost well over 50 pounds. She felt wonderful and motivated. She went to her doctor again and he told her that it was just a fluke and that she would gain the weight back. She dropped that doctor and move on to a dietitian who was willing to help her even further. He put her on another diet that was around the same amount of calories, but she was still not allowed to do cardio.
She started walking a mile a day, which would take her 30-45 minutes because of all of the breaks she had to take to keep her heart regulated. But she NEVER gave up. Eventfully she was walking 2-3 miles a day and dropping pound like there was no tomorrow. It took her over 2 years, but she is finally back down to 150 pounds. The only conditions that stuck with here were her heart condition and her hormone condition, but it is very well managed and she rarely needs to worry about it.
We just found out yesterday that she is pregnant. She is extremely happy and healthy and her hormones are stabilized. She and her husband are very happy.

If someone can over 150 pounds when DOCTORS were even telling her that it was not possible, any one of us can get to our set goal!

I hope everyone enjoyed the story.
