    Exciting News for WebMD Members!

We've been busy behind the scenes building new message boards for you. You'll have new and easier ways to find messages, connect with others, and share your stories.

And, this will all be available on your smartphone or other mobile device!

What Do You Need to Do?

The message board you're used to will be closing in the coming weeks. While many of your boards will be making the move to our new home, your posts will not. Want to keep a discussion going? Save posts you want to continue (this includes your member profile story), so that you can re-post them in the new message boards.

Keep an eye here and on your email inbox, we'll be back in touch soon to give you all the information you need!

    Yours in health,

Nothing in this that we don't already know, but I love that there are actually programs to help folks buy more fresh fruits and veggies. Now if we can just be sure that all those fruits and veggies are free of chemicals.

That's wonderful that some hospitals and docs are buying into healthy eating as medicine , I have been arguing with Docs for a few years trying to get them to believe my sudden good health has to do with my food choices..

I know you have, Judy. Maybe the doctors are seeing the light, now if we can get insurance to truly buy into preventative care. Mine does pay for yearly physical including bloodwork, pap smear, mammogram and even bone density, but does NOT pay for a colonoscopy. I know I'm lucky to have insurance at all and I'm not complaining, but I do wish they'd cover the procedures that doctor's recommend.

Hi Deb My insurance covers all that and the colonoscopy
but there is a copay on the colonoscopy and they don't pay for the lab work associated with it ...I have a deductible that I rarely use up . what gets me confused is that they still cover some things without the deductible .. and if they just made me pay the first 2 visits the deductible would be met ,,

Judy, do you use Medicare? Sorry if that is intrusive, but I'm just starting to do the research and I wondered how your experience has been.

I don't blame you. I'd avoid it too if I could. I literally know a guy with a Phd in physics and he couldn't figure it all out!

Hi Judy, the insurance you are on sounds very much like our insurance. Our deductible is 5,000 per each family member. None of us reach that, it's security in case of severe illness. We have smaller copay amounts for dr. visits and routine tests.

Judy, That is a great deductible. Ours is so high because it keeps our monthly insurance payment down to an affordable amount.

same here we used to have no deductible but paid a higher premium so we chose to pay less since we are in good health we rarely use the deductible and it is there if something is needed

Is that $600 per person? That's not high compared to our 5,000 per person! I am very happy you have pretty good deal compared to people around here. It is usual for some to have $2,500 deductible per person around here. You are lucky to have your husbands company plan!
