Well had physical Tuesday, lots of testing coming up. After them trying several times to find a vein (yes I hydrated all day Monday and Tuesday morning with lots of water) they finally got a gallon of blood for testing. Have to schedule appointments with heart specialist for leaky valve and RA specialist. New family doc went over meds and body completely, no nook or cranky unchecked. I hate physicals. Currently dealing with sinus infection and really bad sore throat. Oh well it had to be done, go to go for another year unless something new shows up in blood work. Always trying to think positive. I hope everyone has a GREAT day HUGGS everyone Jean

Jean, I have had horrible sinus for over 2 years now. I think it is hindering my weight lose some this past week. It is hard to be motivated when having health issues. I have been trying to ignoring mine as much as possible. A gallon of blood? That is a lot for lab work. Man! Oh I lay on a heating pad a lot and place it on my head. It fells great on sinus pressure. I hope your health is taking a upward spiral and not a downward spiral. Eatting healthy helps, along with a healthy attitude, and a lot of willpower. Hope you get better and all the test turn out good! Praying Steph

Judy? I have went and seen a specialist this past year. They said I have TMJ due to sinus pressure. About every 3 months I have sinus so bad, I run fever for about 3 days, it settles in my neck and shoulders, I loose my voice completely, my hearing will come and go, I get massive headaches. I have always had seasonal allergies, but this is getting ridiculous. I get the steroid shots and they do no good for me, the last time I seen the specialist he give me two z packs back to pack and they did great for me, now it is back again. If I had a full time job they would probably fire me, due to having to miss work cause of my sinus issues. I feel and spranged a ankle due to my equal Librium being so bad this past year. They done a hearing test , a cat scan on my head, I have not got down to the bottom of it yet Judy. But to go from a prefect bill of health to this bothesr me. I take a lot of musinex, alieve, Tylenol, as well. My head use to drain like the kids and I would cough that all up. My head no longer lets that drain out, and when it does it is so late, I loose the voice, run fever, and am deathly sick, got any suggestions I would love to hear them?

Jean,

I hate the physicals as well, but it's just got to be done. I go back in Feb. and have been borderline with my cholesterol. I fear with the new guidelines for cholesterol lowering meds that I will be taking them next year. They are estimating that it could double the number of people on statins.

Keep us posted on your specialists visits. Have you always had a leaky valve or is this something new?

my dad had such bad sinus' that he actually had surgery on his twice to clean them out.
I take 1200 of guafensin every night or I can't breathe
I now have a humidifier whole house
hot showers lots of humidity in air (isn't Tennessee huthe mid)?
nettie pot First and foremost with the salt solution to clean out

Thanks Keet, I bought that solution you squirt up your nose and it comes out the other side, like the nettie pot, but in a squeeze bottle, it has that salt solution in it, I was scared to use it more than twice a day afraid it would dry me out. I may try using it more too.

I have been putting a towel over my head and breathing in the steam as well. I read that helps. I may have to go to the doc and get them z packs every 3 months weather I like it or not. I can't figure out what has changed in my life, other than I am getting older.

The valve being leaky sounds scary to me, but I have heard of people having it, and they just keep a good eye on it. My neighbor just had 3 stints put in, he went for a check up and the next day put them in, he had major blockage, he is in his late 60,s. Heart problems are nothing to play around with that is for sure.

yes you can do steam. the bottle you bought is exactly what I have. You're supose to use distilled water did you know that?
If you didn't buy distilled water you can boil tap water and get the same effect.

gee Steph I know when I was asthmatic to breath better I used steam but I simplified it by wetting a face cloth with very hot water and just putting it on my face and breathe that in that could soothe sinus too maybe

They do have a procedure to get them unclogged it requires surgery though My sister had that surgery and one of her eyes got damaged during the surgery ..I am not sure if that is a common side effect or not .. Have you looked into surgery to relive it ... Hugs Judy

When I make a hot cup of mint tea I always breathe the steam right after I put in the mint. It helps clear my sinuses and lungs. Did you know peppermint has a documented anti-inflammatory effect? Washing my sinuses out helps too. Giving the house a good cleaning and putting hypoallergenic pillow cases on your pillows can help too.

Just an update had physical, blood work and visits to all the specialist.

I don't have RA yeah but I do have fybermialga, Osteoartritis, and severe GOUT (it has settled in my joints) Rhuamatologist added 2 more meds. Saw the cardioloist and have to go through several testing Dec 9 including a stress test, all testing will probably take about 3 hours. Have to have blood work done again in another week, I wouldn't mind but they always have to poke me at least 2 times to get blood. I go back Dec 4 to regular doctor to discuss the rest of my blood work. They want me to do more walking which is very difficult with the painful arthritis.

Does anyone know of any mediation information (books, tape) that are good for beginners? Right now until the GOUT is under control that is how the doc wants to treat the FM. HUGGS everyone I hope everyone has a Happy Thanksgiving.

Jean, funnily I was just listening to a pain meditation CD that Laura recommended to me for my arthritic knees! I got it on amazon. It's called "A meditation to help ease pain" by Belleruth Naparstek. I was chilling to her soothing voice while I got dressed . Sorry about all those problems. I hope the meditation will help.

Belle rut his phenomenal. I have the pain cd too as well as a few more from her. One thing that is easy to do is the deep breathing. I breathe in calm (as deeply as I can) and when I exhale I breathe out all the way I breathe out let go.

In recent I breathe in God and breathe out calm. I like this way very much!!

Good luck jean

Kathy! So glad you were listening to my relaxation tape. I just listened to it last night. Slept like a baby...(for those who don't know I heard about it from a counselor who was helping me deal with severe low back pain at the time. Now my back pain is very manageable.)
