If you are starting a fitness routine from zero, you may find a pedometer helpful. It counts your steps including your daily chores giving you the incentive to increase your number a little each day. It is a gentle incremental way to exercize. When I'm a little short at the end of the day, I can just do a lap or two around the yard to catch up. Having a numerical record gives me something I can look at to appreciate the progress I've made. On days when I'm feeling discouraged, it's a great help.
