Antibiotics

OK folks, I know that antibiotics can cause some digestive issues. I finished a round of antibiotics (and the Medrol steroids if that matters) last Friday...one week ago. Since then I've had really really loose stools...diarrhea at times and just super loose at other times. What's really weird -- and I apologize in advance if this is a bit gross -- is that what's coming out of me is pretty strange...there are what look like actual leaves in the toilet along with the loose stool. Has anyone heard of this before?

I feel ok otherwise...no blood, no mucus, etc. I started taking probiotics the other day to try to restore some balance. How long after a round of antibiotics do you wait before getting something like this looked at?

That sounds exactly like what can happen after taking antibiotics. A lot of doctors don't believe it as there aren't a lot of studies to prove it, but probiotics do help to bring things back into balance. As it's only been a week since you stopped the antibiotics and you just started taking probiotics it's way too soon to expect to see a change.

Well it's been a little over a month now and no resolution. I took probiotics for a couple weeks which did nothing (strange because I've found them very useful in the past after a round of antibiotics). I'm still having very loose stools, diarrhea at times and defininely "going" more frequently than usual.

I'm thinking of trying something like Citrucel next and probably more yogurt.

Is it possible something else is at play here? Everything started immediately after finishing my round of antibiotics so I have to assume it's connected, but it's just not clearing up this time. I'm starting to wonder if it could be anything else???
