H Pylori infection

I had been having trouble with coughing, choking, bloating, fullness, bouts of constipation and diarreah. Went to primary care and ENT. They found nothing ... said it must be acid reflux and they gave me Omeprazole 20mg. After a year later, my stomach area became really hard, distended and hurt. I went to a gastro specialist and they did a scope, the biopsy confirmed H Pylori. I've been on 2 different antibiotics and Omeprazole upped to 40 mg for the last 2 weeks. This is horrible. I can hardly eat. I'm running to the bathroom and that has my hemrroids bleeding. I'm using suppositories but they aren't helping. My last dose of meds was this morning and I have Dr appt later this month to see if the H Pylori is gone. I'm crossing my fingers

Hi Roadkindlady,

So sorry to hear that you're suffering with H Plylori . It looks like you're not alone there. According to this WebMD article, "Research shows that most ulcers -- 80% of stomach ulcers and 90% of those in the duodenum, the upper end of the small intestine -- develop because of infection with Helicobacter pylori (H. pylori)".

There a number of treatments for H. pylori infection. They include:
  • Antibiotics to kill the bacteria.
  • Medications , including H2-blockers and proton pump inhibitors, to reduce the amount of stomach acid.
  • Surgery to treat ulcers. (if needed)

This article has some home treatments for hemorrhoids that may help relieve some of the discomfort.

Sending positive thoughts your way that this will clear up soon for you!! Let us know how you're doing.

I had the H Pylori blood test and it came back positive.

I finish up my antibiotics today.

I asked the doctor if I have to have another blood test to see if it's gone. She told me no because it will always show up positive. How do u know if it has gone for good?

The doctor told me if you have problems with your stomach call me right away.

Like you I am keeping my fingers crossed and hoping it is gone for good.. This infection can be fatal if not treated properly.

Hope you are clear of the H Pylori Infection.
