Acute Stomach Pain Which Results in Diarrhea

My 22 year old daughter has acute attacks which cause severe stomach pain (mid to lower abdomen) and result in very, very painful bowel movement. Then the stomach pain is gone. The attack typically lasts 30 minutes to 1 hour. She said the diarrhea smells the same every time. Attacks happen randomly sometimes, but also when eating at 2 different restaurants (Pei Wei and McAllisters). She is otherwise healthy and eats a very low fat diet and basically no sugar. Her colonoscopy, endoscopy, and Hida Scan Gallbladder were normal. The attacks happen on average 2 times per month, and the pain is debilitating until the diarrhea happens. This started about 3 years ago. Any ideas?

sounds like a classic case of IBS. Mine started at age 13, when it was called spastic colitis. It is related to stress, what you eat (rare steak and chocolate ice cream used to do it to me), and absolutely nothing at all. Have her ask
her doc, can she take Immodium at the start of the diarrhea.
