Enviornmental Causes for Chronic Diarrhea?

I am a 30 year old male, average height, about 15-20 lbs overweight. Suffering from diarrhea that occurs about 25-50% of the time.

About a half a dozen times a year, I go on a trip that means that I'm away from home (and the office) for about four days. What I have noticed is that when I am on one of these trips, the diarrhea problem pretty much vanishes.

I don't eat especially healthily, I know. Too much soda and red mean, not enough fruits and vegetables. But my eating habits don't change when I'm away on one of these trips. My level of physical activity doesn't change. My stress level doesn't really change. The only thing that really changes is that I'm not in my house or office.

That leads me to wonder if there's some sort of enviormental cause of this, and if there's some way to test for that, and deal with it.
