Pain and Carbonated Drinks

Hi everyone, I'm pretty new here, so I'm not exactly sure I'm posting in the right place for this. Try to bear with me. I've come across a couple of people, myself included, who experience a painful sensation in their throat and tongue when consuming carbonated beverages like soda. As much as I've searched, I've never been able to find out why this is. As a matter of sheer curiosity, is this anything I need to be concerned about gastrointestinal wise? Could it indicate something about my digestive system that I'm not aware of? Any advice would be great!
