    Newly Diagnosed: lymphocytic colitis

Hi there! I'm 31 years old and I was diagnosed with lymphocytic colitis today. From what I'm reading it's a rare inflammatory bowel disease, also known as microscopic colitis. I also read that it is typically diagnosed in women 50+ years old. Does anyone have experience with this? I've already tried some if the recommendations including dietary changes (I'm living on mashed potatoes and applesauce because anything else causes horrible pain, nausea, and diarrhea). I've also tried Imodium and metamucil/benefiber? Every day is a fight to stay hydrated and away from the hospital for IV fluids.

I also have this awful condition. Does your doctor prescribe ento cort? When I have a flare up of this my doctor puts me on 2 ntocort every morning for 6 weeks, then one entocort every morning foe 3 weeks then one every other morning for 2 weeks. Along with this a very special diet of rice (any way you like it) applesauce, boiled or baked chicken, baked or broiled fish, and other things but no lentil like beans, or cabbage family food.

I was just diagnosed with Lymphocytic Colitis and my Doctor prescribed Entocort, however, my insurance (or lack thereof) wants me to pay $1,000.00 per month!!! I am a 63 year old male, so there goes the theory of only women over 50. I talked with my Doctor and he re-issued a prescription for Prednisone. He wants me to stay on this for 2 months. I was only told to increase my fiber, but I will need to monitor my intake and note what foods may be causing the most problems. I also had bloodwork done because he thinks that I may have Celiac's Disease (I hope not). I know that you posted 2 years ago, but have you had any new developments that you could share with me
