Pita, there are a couple of things you need to talk to your doctor about. Achalsia is typically handled in a couple of ways all of which have the aim of lowering or decreasing the resting pressure of the sphincter at the base of the esophagus (LES). Botox works very well for many. It relaxes the tightness that holds the LES closed and food can move through. Docs can also disrupt that pressure by dilating the LES. Another method, a surgical procedure - myotomy - can also be used. In some, oral nitrates (like those used for heart problems or calcium channel blocking meds can also be tried. Meds might help while you're waiting for the next botox injection. You might want to call your doc and talk to him/her.
