    Exciting News for WebMD Members!

We've been busy behind the scenes building new message boards for you. You'll have new and easier ways to find messages, connect with others, and share your stories.

And, this will all be available on your smartphone or other mobile device!

What Do You Need to Do?

The message board you're used to will be closing in the coming weeks. While many of your boards will be making the move to our new home, your posts will not. Want to keep a discussion going? Save posts you want to continue (this includes your member profile story), so that you can re-post them in the new message boards.

Keep an eye here and on your email inbox, we'll be back in touch soon to give you all the information you need!

Hi I was wondering if anyone could answer what the current medical criteria of anorexia nervosa is? I heard that it was to be updated.
I am a little confused. Say you met every criteria apart from you have regular periods would you be diagnosed as Anorexic or would you be diagnosed as EDNOS, and is EDNOS even medically recognized yet? Thankyou

Hi Blyth and welcome to WebMD,

I am no expert and so I don't have an answer for you (perhaps others here may have some thoughts to share) but my understanding of many conditions is what you don't necessarily have to meet every single criteria point in order to have that condition.

With Anorexia it's as much about the behavior and thought process as it is about the exact weight or whether you have your period of not. And whether it's exactly Anorexia or something else, if this is something that is part of your life, please get some help.
