Mirena for treatment of endo

A little about me. I am 34 and was diagnosed with endo at 16. I have had 5 laps and did one round of Lupron when I was 17 and countless BCPs that never really work.

ladies i hope that its just me and that you do well on it though... i cant take any b/c at all because i get so sick and my body reacts to it like crazy! whew. but please give me success stories ladies

Report This| Share this:Mirena for treatment of endowell my experience was bad... i dont want to scare you or deter you from it but when i got the mirena i had bleeding and spotting for three solid months. then when i had it removed two days later i was rushed into surgery because they thought my sppendix was going to burst and then bam what did the find Endo! I know I need to do something because my periods are getting very long and very heavy and I am starting to have more pain with my periods. And I have taken so many birth control pills and nothing really works. I either do not feel right the entire time I am on them, bleed the entire time, have cramps every day or gain a lot of weight.
I am pretty apprehensive about getting something implanted in me but in a way it is exciting since nothing else seems to work.
I will keep you posted if I decide to go through with it!

I've tried the Mirena and it helped with the bleeding but it was supposed to last for 5 years, and I stopped responding to the medications after about 2 years so I had it removed. But other than helping with bleeding it doesn't really do anything for the endometriosis that I've found. Hope it works for you though.

Have you tried Lybrel? I've been on it for 2 years and absolutely love it. It's a continuous BCP, and if you have any spotting, try evening primrose oil (they even have it at walmart). I find that that works really well for lessening cramps and controlling bleeding. Hope it works for you if you decide to try it!
