Hi Nancy,

Child abuse is being recognized now as a Possibility of 'Cause'. I know a head blow is what re-triggered mine, after 20 yrs of remission. Then again, Maybe Your head Blow Lowered your seizure threshold so when you were in the Wreck, seizures were triggered.

The only way you would know for sure, is IF someone witnessed seizure activity, after the Head blows from your Dad. I may be Wrong, but, I don't think A Bloody nose (no matter how long it lasted) is considered a seizure or a seizure Trigger. Although they can occur during seizures, in some PPL.

Question: I understand you had problems in math. But, after the incident, did anyone note a decline in your grades or any other odd behavior? Any Remarks from Teachers about Anything unusual? Daydreaming, dozing in class, etc.

there is also something called pseudoseizures where your depression and anxiety could cause you to have a seizure. (also if your father caused any type of brain trauma, which your dr should be able to see on tests that could def cause seizures). therapy will help the pseudoseizures along with a neuropsychiatrist. origionally before my EEG finally showed epilepsy my dr.s kept saying i had pseudoseizures from being in an abusive relationship when i was 20, my seizures didnt start until i was 27 and he has appologized and received help for it, so i have forgiven him and come to terms. i knew it wasnt that. then they tried to say it was a pseudoseizure
because i am close to my parents and i got married and moved out. i also know this is not true. i am glad i listened to my body. i kept having complex partial and tonic-clonic seizures for a year before anyone discoverd the epilepsy. i now see a seizure specialist, a neurpsychologist who is working on mind games with me to get my short term memory improved which is shot from the seizures and i see a neuropsychiatrist who is helping me with medication to sleep (lack of sleep causes me to have a seizure) and medication to help my panic attacks before a seizure and the week after a seizure i get panic attacks when i have to be left alone and that could cause a pseudoseizure.
I also have to have a 7 day EEG to take me off all meds and force me into a seizure so they can see where in the brain it comes from. that way they can make sure i am taking the right meds. for now they are guessing that its the frontal and temprol lobes based on what my husband describes and what i can recall. i hope this helped you. are you seeing a therapist to help you cope with the abuse you suffered from and do you see a neurologist?

HI Jenn I do NOT have NES .

I ahve EP, ALL of my tests came back positive for it.

I had a dork for 2 docs that liked to tell me it was NES even though is was NOT. I had mulpile witnesses for this problem.

I never did have have ansiryt over this, I just can not do math. And got beat up over it.

I was called a day-dreamer did not pay attention, was not listening, obvlious, odd behoiour, etc all the way through college. No one picked up on it becuase the ywere so detremined it was behaviour. My 4th grade teacher would NOT let me in her class if I was NOT put on RItalin and demanded my parents do so, Made things alot worse,

I was on it for 4 years and hated it I did not want it any more and went off it codld-turkey,

people with EP do NOT belong on that drug at all.

Jsut to let you know I have been in the EMU twice for monitoring. The first time was for 2 things to detox the TEgretol from My systen, Iwas posioned from it and to wastched for szs. I had 2 but they we questioned. When I swiched neuros to the one O have now who is very gerat and caring he did not like the fact tht they were saaaid to be incionlusive, He ran his own EMU tesing and got answers

HE saw 2 staring szs in one night, and 3 MAJOR Complex Partial szs that all had to be stopped with ativan.

He even sat next to me on one of them to watch one.

matched the EEG.

so I had 3 sleep-deprived EEGs, one regular awaked one, an abmulaotry one, 2 EMJ rests, and all came back abnoramal.

In fact I had I had a Complex Partial Secondiraly Tonic-Clonic sz a few hrs ago and am whiped and have to take a pain killer for my head but have not yet.

I also have a VNS whis is for people with intrable/refratory szs.

I went form having 10-12 szs a day to 3-4 a month with the VNS. I can stop szs before they hit. I just rub a special high powered magnet over the VNS under my skin and it stopes it in it in its tracks I can also stop aurs as well.

so yes I have true EP not NES.
