Hi my name Is Misty and i am 25 years old, and i thought i'd come here to look for answers. I don't have a regular doctor yet but i have a Diabetic doctor and i told her what was going on. It seems everytime i go to bed i feel like i am having a Seizure like it feels like im there but not there..Like i know that my bodys shaking violently and i cant open my eyes and then i had problems with my leg hurting bad. So i called my Diabetic dr and she suggested if it isnt my blood sugar being low that i should anyway go to the ER to have them run tests on me, i just don't want the ER staff to look at me like i'm dumb. I have a 10 month old son and its just me and him when these things happen.. Can anyone tell me what you think Plz & Thanks

Hello Misty,

You have a 10 mth old? Question: Do you have a baby monitor w/ video? Why? Cuz, you could use the monitor to record what is happening to you. Being that you are Diabetic, also, I would Report Any ER/medical team that looked at you as 'dumb'. High & Low blood sugars Can cause seizure activity. And They should Know That!

A regular DR won't do you much good. You need a referral to a Neurologist or Epileptologist (seizure specialist) for the appropriate tests. To determine if you have Epilepsy or if it is just a side effect of Sugar levels. Keep in mind: It is possible to have Both! My Sister does.

Another Suggestion: Read Journals posted under Tips. Then start keeping a Daily Journal. Maybe you can note a pattern & possible Triggers.

Keep asking questions! Keep learning! Knowledge is Power when dealing w/ Seizure Disorders & Drs!

Dancer is correct because I was epileptic for my entire life now I have to add Diabetic and did this activity start after the birth or during and there are sz's which coincide with your hormones and periods so what Dancer said is true about video monitoring and get a person you cantrust to be on call should you need to be sent to the ER. I even moved back to my home town for the large family net I have here. The test may comeback as normal but mine have all my life so it is important for the referral Dancer suggested.
