I don't think it fits under epilepsy, but I don't know who to ask. For the past year and a half, I have experienced random "seizures", usually during the day or at school. I say "seizures" because I am not quite sure what they are. I was diagnosed with hypothyroidism two years ago, and also don't know if the two are connected in some way. What happens is normally I start feeling weak for a few seconds, and then it feels as if my eyes are being tossed around in a washing machine. It happens very suddenly, and I find myself always quickly grasping my head with my hands because the shock is so great, as if trying to stabalize myself. Luckily this usually occurs while at sitting in a desk chair at school, but it has happened in various other locations. Afterwards I feel slightly dizzy and weak, but after a few others recover. I have absolutely no idea what this is, can anybody help me? I've been to the doctor and they have run EKG's and such, and haven't found anything.

It sounds like it may be some kind of partial sz. But I am not a doc.

Keep a written jounral for the doc, who is hopefully is a neurologist, and if it isn't then get one. They can run different kinds of EEGs on you put you in an Epilepsy Monitoring Unit or EMU to watch to see if there IS sz activity going on and get you on some medication.

I have had alot of EEGs all abnormal and otehr testing as well.

I have been in an EMU 2 times. the first one was done in 04 and turned up as incunclusive and they second one with the neurologist i have now got an eye full. I had 2 staring szs, and 3 MAJOR Complex Partial szs that all had to be stopped with IV Ativan.

You really need an EEG to find out what is going on.

Thank you for the advice, and I'm hoping to get tests done in the following months that might clarify what's happening.

Sounds to me like a partial seizure of some kind. I am no expert but from what you are describing that sounds like my symptoms after I have had a seizure. I have the temporal lobe seizures. so yes it is a partial for sure. when you have an EEG done it only tells about at the time of the test. So it is possible for it to be normal even though it may kind of be hiding. I would be also asking your dr. to also do a MRI. it may reveal something that the EEG doesn't
