Hi Jason. For me it varies a bit, but usually in the hours leading up to a seizure I am irritable and snappy. Other times I get an intense weird feeling in my arms that's hard to explain, or like a crawling sensation in them, too. If I'm on the computer too long I get sick to my stomach. I have photosensitive epilepsy.

I'm like you Jason. Or rather I should say, I have no recall of any forewarnings. But, based on a story my GF tells, I do seem to have warnings/auras. Or at least 1 witnessed one w/ warning. I was riding shotgun after work. As usual. I was still very naive about my seizures at that time & not on any meds that I can recall. Anyway, she says I started insisting it was my turn to Dance & I was trying to get out of her car, while she was doing 75mph down a freeway. B4 she could Stop, I slid to the floorboard & went into convulsions. She was Very Happy that occurred. My Doors were Unlocked.

That was over 30 yrs ago. But, I had heard the story enough times over the yrs, that it still makes me wonder what else I have said or done prior to seizures. Not that I worry about it too much. Those days are History.

Hi Jason,

I had auras prior to my seizures. I would get a strange taste in my throat or my stomach would get the "butterflies" rather suddenly. At one time my vision was affected. Similiar to someone pouring water over a camara lens.

As time moved on, my sensations disappeared. I could tell that a seizure had occurred because I had lost some time. The unpleasant taste I mentioned early was there but it followed the seizure and was no longer a warning.

As cupcake suggests, the auras will vary amongst us. There will be some similarities but each to his/her own. I know others who have never had a sensation. This is not uncommon.

Do you recognize any signs that are frequently there prior to a seizue? Headaches, tingling, anything? Any foods?

Simply be sure to keep a record of your seizures. It might help to note what your activities were prior to the seizure. This might help you recognize a possible aura.

There are usually a couple of signs & they happen after my seizures. The typical aching muscles, tiredness & splitting headaches. The biggest one that I find happens I loose all the moisture in my mouth & throat as if I swallowed a fist full of sand.
