hey are there things of factors that can trigger the onset of an absence seizure with my daughter? i know that sometimes flashing lights can but don't know if that pertains to this type of seizures. my daughter has had a significant increase in number of seizures and her knees actually buckled causing her to fall yesterday at school

hyperventilating can cause a Absence sz, that is why they do that during an EEG.

Also it sounds like she could also have Drop Attacks.

I have had them adn wore a helmet for a few years.

if plashing lights bother her than she may have something claaed reflex epilepsy.

All these different types pf szs are considered mixed szs.

She may need different meds to treat all of them, becuase each kind of sz needs a di fferent med to control it. She may have to ride the med merry go round until they havet he correct dx and the right meds for the time being.

I am on 3 of them Klonopin, Vimpat and Lamictal plus the Vagus Nerve Stimulator.

Hey proudmomma,

How are you and the young lady today? Has she reached the age of pruberty?

I had an increase of seizure activity around "that time of the month". For a period of time, my doc would give me a higher dosage the week before my "visitor." That was my case and it was effective for a while.

Is she doing a lot of studying right now? Studying for tests caused(high school and college) an increase in activity for me too.

Are there any changes in her diet?

I'm throwing out ideas right now.

Have a good weekend. Hello to you daughter.

Hi proudmomma,

I overlooked that your daughter is 5 so I guess we can eliminate the puberty, menstrual.

My apologies for the oversight.
