i'm always unhappy feeling like need to cry every minutes.i think i really need help
You have Choices. You can do as others' and add Vit. B6 or B Complex to your vitamin Regimen. Talk w/ Pharmacist about Dose. Then give it time to build up in your system & see if that helps. Or you go Back to your Neuro & tell him/her that you want Off this med & explain why. It would be Best if you start recording Daily Everything you eat & do, too. A Journal! Read more Info Under Tips.

More questions? Need to know more. Just ask. Wanna Rant. Do so. We are Listening.
Just wanna share. Again, we are listening & are here for You!

sorry to hear about your discomforts with Keppra. I had similar problems with Mysoline back in the mid 70s.
There's a gentleman, Jason, on this site who has also had bad experiences with Keppra. His screen name is "Blazing Tiger".
I've been on Keppra for about 12 years now. I have been blessed not to experience such problems with it.
Find "Blazing Tiger" and share with him. It might help you both.
Candi has already asked my general questions( how long have you been on it?, does your doc know?,. etc)
Talk, share, or rant with us.

Try the B6 & let us know if you Improve. As for spelling mistakes. You can rite clik on red underlined words & pick the correct spelling. Or Not. We all have problems some day.
Hugs!Love Candi
I hope your day is starting off nicely.
Only those of us who take the meds understand what you're saying about those uncomfortable side-effects.
Maybe Keppra is one of the meds that you simply can't tolerate. We all have one(or more) that simply doesn't agree with us Other than the mood swings with Mysoline, I had trouble with Vimpat.
Keep seeking answers and asking questions. Part of positive treatment is how well one is able to handle the choice of meds. When the meds interfere with personal productivity, I have asked for an alternative.
You know you better than any one, doctors included.
Don't worry about the typos. I have seen many after I have posted a reply. We understand what is being said regardless.

First of all epilepsy does not discriminate so we are all in this together. I had a similar reaction to keppra. Although I was on a much shorter amount of time than what you have been. I too started out having a lot of sleepiness. It also caused my moods to shift like flipping a light switch and frequently. Also severe insomnia. That is when a decision was made by me that keppra was not for me. I never mentioned it did not stop my seizures & i was taking 2000 mg daily. Hope you are doing better.
Jason
I take 3 mgs of Klonopin and 600 mgs of Lamictal over the 500 mg limit, and 600 mgs of Vimpat way over the 400 adult doaage. But it does work for me. My friend is on Keppra adn seems to do well on it and he has some behaviour issues abd has had 5 bleeds in his brains for a horrific bycycle accident 2 years ago. but he is holding his own.
But his memory stinks.
One time the dog pooped on the living room carpet and he didn;t do anything about it becuase he did n't know how so he just left it htere anbd walked in it multiple time adn his wife a good friend of mine had to scrub alot of the rug and everywhere else he tracked it around and he didn' even know that the dog even did it.
He can not make sandwhiches or anything like that.
He sufferes from depression as well and was just taken of the Zyprexa adn is now on Haldol with the Keprra.
Those docs should have know better than to give him that beucase it is contraindicated in people with a hx of szs and epilepsy.
S/e are sedation so he is now sleeping alot but is doing WAY better than he was doinh consideraly better than he was doing 1 year ago.
He take 1000 mgs split into 2 doses daily and take VIcodin for his headaches.
Even though I do not ake the Keppra I jpined the Keppra Comunity for them so I could give them infot from what I was sent from them and it was a year and I got the magazine called Epilepsy advocate and then I got it so he got it two.
I also bought them a book called "EPILEPSY AND OTHER SEIZURE DISORDERS" she then founf out how scary this dosorder is and read some of it to him. It has been 2 years ago and he is still in denial agbout everything. HE has multiplte types of szs becuase the bleeds are all over in his brain.
I have several types and was just dxd with another type.
I have Myoclonic, Atonic (drop Attacks), Absence, T/C adn Complex PArtials. Then I was dxd with a another type that has no name but causes SEVERE dizziness that causes me to walk into wals fall over and get hurt, adn vertigo. They last about 5 minutes but I swipe my implant called VNS and sometimes it goes away and sometimes it does not.

I used it for my friend who was in a very serious bike accident and is on keppra. They had no clue about anything he and his wife. so i got the info for them and beifited myself.
My neuro refuses to put me on Keppra beucase it can cause hostility and behavioral problems along with mood swings. My friend sleeps alot and that is a s/e of it. Maybe not for you but it happens to him.
Right now I take 3 mgs of Klonopin, 600 mgs of Lamictal, and 600 mgs of Vimpat. All have their problems but they do works for me.
HE did just adjust the way I was taking the Vimpat and that has been benificial for me in controlling my szs.
I was taking it every 12 hrs, and he asked me where i came up with that number and I said that I thought that every 12 hrs made sence to keep it on that rotation.
WRONG! he did not like that so he afjusted it so I am now taking the Vimpat at 8 am, 12 pm, 4 pm and 8 pm. I take the oether pile of meds and take them at 10 30 pm and then in teh morning about 10 30 I take the other meds that are not sz drugs. But the VImpat stays the same.
Keppra and Lamictal are a great combo for each other or at least that is what iI have heard from people taking it. I know of several people on this baord and off this baoord in my life that combo and like it.
My neuro loves Lamictal adn will NOT take me off it. That is fine with me. He hasked me abutt keppra a while ago but that was before the Vimpat.
I hope everhtning improves for you and that you find the ri ght drug.
Good luck and take care!

I see that Angie mentioned me. Yes I too had problems with this med. I seriously believe you are having one of the side effects. For rx info I use the rxlist for my medicine info. Ironic that it is sponsered by Web MD. I had a really severe side effects from keppra. emotional & crying 1 min. like flipping a light switch turned very aggressive my sleepiness turned into insomnia that was the last straw for me. Been on tegretol ever since. So the short of it is keppra is not mixing very well with your body chemistry.
