I now have to take shots for my migraines. they are tiny needles with little vials that you tale out of the case and and pull out the needle holder and then put in the vial straight up and down and pull it stsraif up and then prick yourself in the arm, hip or thigh. I don't take the pills any mre because they don not work as fast as I need them to. Theshots take effect immediately before you are even done giving the shot.

then I get TPI shots in my neck to control them as well.

thatI have to come to PHX for.

TPI stands for Trigger Point Injections

well I better go for now.

go Hawaii Warriors

I have never heard of those shots before? do they work well? have you noticed any side effects? I hate pain medicine and try to go as much as I can without it but when my migranes get so bad nothing seems to work good enough.
hawaiian_girl73 replied to anna_banana_2012's response:
there are othere shots that you can give yourself too.

I give myself shots of Imitrex. And they work in 3-5 minutes.

last night I used one nad my headache went away so it was gone before I went to bed.

I can not sleep with MIgraines at bedtime, however can sleep some of it off during the day. But I get hsots from my TMJ/headache specialist.

YEs the TPI injections help. They take onger to start working but give longer relief.

I gop whenever my MIgraines get messy and out of control. like they are now, but have hd to wait 2 weeks to get in.

the pain dpctor gives me the TPI injections not the TMJ/headache doctor.

hawiian_girl11 responded:

the shots that I take are just 6 mgs/.05ml of Iimitrex. you giveit to your self in hyour thigh ot either arm.

they do not hurt very much and before the shot is in you can feel the relief starting.

The TPIs I was referring to work but I was too far gone got that one to worjr that time.they usually do orjj and last at least 2 months.

so I have the other shots as bacjk ttry asksing your neuro and see what he says. mine ae given yo me by my heafavhe specailast who also deals with TMJ which I have as well.

I looked up those 3 drugs CAndi and they are really nasty ones. I bguess he is trying to get me some short term relief of my MIgraines by injecting and taking on pill . I read the s/e a nd think that he can have them back. I don't like what I am reading. they are sscary but it says less than one percent at the top.

MOst of it are CV s/e and that is what scares me. I have never had a problem with those drugs before but now I have to give up my sleeoing pil my sz drug Klonopin, my PainPills my anti-depressant used to prevent Migraines, a d one more.

I have to come back to the PHX area and he has to play show and tell then back to HI I go and trh to do this on mh own.

THe weather here is rotten now. it was so nice earlier. now we have non-stop rain and I have had 3 szs today.

I had a T/C at 7 45 HI time im the am and 10 45 am HI time, and another one a partial one at 1 30 pm HI time.

low pressure fronts just kill me.

Nancy, 1% don't sound to bad. But, like our seizure meds you won't know what You will experience till you try it. Who knows??? taking you off those other meds, too, may help w/ seizure control.

Hey, we got rain for 3 days here in AZ. A Big front from the South is moving over all of AZ. Looks like Phoenix & surrounding areas are gettin the worst of it though. But BHC is wet, too. I'm glad the weather don't affect me seizure wise. Although it does make my left sinus clog up.The pressure is Awful, but, tolerable after I take sinus meds. Strange to have only one nostril affected.

More Seizures?? I sure wish your DRS could find a med or combo that Worked for you. Hopefully, in the Near future, DRS will have answers/treatments that DO work for you.
