broken/divided urine stream
dyna42 posted:
I am 37. When I urinate, the stream is sometimes divided in half and forms 2 streams going in different directions. This has been happening for some time now...10 yrs or better). lately, i have noticed my urine stream (when not broken in 2) has more of a spray effect and it is weak and getting weaker. I find myself sitting to go, and I go often. When I go to sporting events or public restrooms where you pee in a trough, I wont do it. I am too afraid I'll pee on the person next to me. Also, within the last couple of years, my semen no longer shoots. It just shows up at the tip and rolls out. Pretty undramatic. It is painful and difficult to start to pee after sex. I also have (not very often) a cramping pain in the prostate area. Frequency is maybe 1 or 2 times a month for this...also, When I go #2, semen shows up at the tip of the penis.

Well, sounds like pretty good guess you might have an enlarged prostate which is inhibiting the flow. Go make an appointment with a urologist, and get it checked out soon.

I read your message board and wish to know if you were able to ask your urologist about your condition. I went to the urologist for the same problem but I was not satisfied with his diagnostic, he told me that my prostate is ok but the walls of my bladder were aging and that was the reason for the low flow. Please let me know what they told you if is ok to share it.

Besides an enlarged prostate, most common reasons for a split stream are scar tissue or a lesion of some kind in the urethra (such as trauma, STD, or URI-caused). That would have to be determined by tests ordered by a doc.
