Beta-Sitosterol effective?

I keep hearing about this Beta-Sitosterol being more effective than just Saw Palmetto for BPH and inflammation relief.. There are hosts of prostate formulas out there now which include 300mg doses of Beta-Sitosterol. They usually include vitamins, zinc and Selenium. Do these products hold any promise or are they just snake oil? :pbpt:

Here's a quick reference for your question. www.prostatesr.com That's not to specifically tell you to take one product over another, but the company that makes Prostate SR publishes all the clinical research studies that support the selection and amount of ingredients, and has a medical advisory board of about 9 doctors in urology and nutrition that are the academic leaders in their field and from major university programs. If you want to find out the basis for saw palmetto and beta-sitosterol, all the references you need are in the journal references linked there.
