Sheldon Marks, MD replied to springjj's response:
We worry only if the blood is heavy or persistent. If you are 40 or older probably check a PSA level and see a urologist too. Otherwise we usually do not worry about blood. If any doubts, see a urologist.

Blood in the semen is common, scary as hell and usually means nothing. If it is heavy or persistent then you should see your urologist. Blood in the urine is a totally different beast- one time you see blood in your urine you must see the urologist as this can be a early warning sign of something potentially serious such as a tumor or cancer, that could be life threatening if ignored.

I stared to have the same issue, bright red blood comes with semen but not much, with a little disconfort..Well, btw I have been very active sexually, long erections, I have been also using an over the counter erection aid. Which it works, I get long-lasting strong erections.. I wonder, if because of my recent sexual activity is the reason for that, it was very scary thing to see.. Could it be also infection? Should I seek antibiotics.. I am not currently insured.. Please advise?

I have hematospermia as a result of taking Cialis 5 mg. Whenever i take it several days later i have bright red semen. this then turns to brown to tan and back to normal over the course of 12 weeks. I can go for months fine but then take a Cialis and bingo! 3 days later i have bloody semen all over again.

Urologist has done MRI, DRE, PSA , cytoscopy you name it and nothing seems wrong. but like clockwork ciallis causes me to bleed into my semen. IT SHOULD BE LISTED AS A SIDE EFFECT!!!

think that this may be a serious cause ..i think you need to see a doctor...this may be a strain in the penis or it may be prostate.

I have the same experience with Cialis but I also get it from low dosage aspirin! I went to several urologists and they did loads of tests, nothing. Finally, when I stopped taking the daily low dosage aspirin, the blood stopped and didn't come back, that is until I took a 5 mg Cialis. There must be some blood thinner in them that triggers the response. I was scared to death that I was dying, good luck!

I think because of your profession(body building) this happens. may be hormone changing is reason. you need a good doctor.
