Enlarged Prostate/or could it be prostate cancer

marv3 posted:
Good day all, I visited my family doctor over some urinating issues, and he gave me a perscription for Flomax, I had a PSA done a couple weeks ago and my family doctor says my PSA is 6.4 and that there is nothing they can do at this time except watch and retest in 6 months to a year. Should I be concerned at this time and seek another opinion or wait my time for retesting. Thanks in advance for all your information. Mavic

The recommendations as to what to do with a PSA of 6.4 depend on several factors, including your age, what (if any) previous PSA results you have had, how long you've been with urinary symptoms, digital rectal exam, your family history, etc.). Prostate cancer is very slow-growing, and 6 months wait is not necessarily unreasonable.
