ED and long term alcohol use

I'm a 42 year old male who has been drinking 4-5 alcoholic drinks a day for the last 10 years, at least, mostly late at night before bed. I always knew that large quantities of alcohol could prevent an erection but was unaware daily drinking could also cause ED. I am of healthy weight, eat well and exercise regularly. If I were to stop drinking today how long would it be before I see a positive effect in my erections?

Hi hughjas,

Unfortunately, it isn't a guarantee that this change in drinking will result in fixing this situation. Erectile Dysfunction can occur for a number of reasons, as seen in this Overview . The best thing for you to do is see your doctor for an examination, go over your medical history, medications, lifestyle, etc. He/she will also be the best person to speak with about finding a safe and reliable treatment .

Please, take care of yourself and keep us posted!
