Erectile dysfunction after having a catheter

My husband recently had a foley catheter in for a month. Now he is experiencing some numbness and cannot achieve an erection. This has NEVER been a problem before. He even had a subrapubic catheter for a while and he had no problems at all.His Urologist only wants to prescribe viagra and such. But why is this happening? No we have yet tried these meds. Why should we even have to? We are young and this wasn't even an issue when he had the catheter in his stomach. Not until it was moved to his penis and then removed has this become an issue.Noone seems to have any answers, only questions. From looking this up online i see we are not alone, but again only questions and no answers.HELP! Thank you!
