Eye Dilation

Notme67 posted:
I had/have a broken blood vessel in my eye and went to my eye doctor. While there she dilated my eyes and told me that I wouldn't be able to read with my glasses on just to take them off to read. She said this would last about four hours. 6 days later I am still not able to see up close with my glasses on. Need them to see distance but have to remove constantly. What is up with this? Will my eyes go back to normal? (My eye doc is on vacation this week so I couldn't ask her).

Alan M Kozarsky, MD responded:
The likely possibilities are that you are particularly sensitive to dilating drops or that long acting drops were used. I assume that your pupils are still a bit dilated along with your having difficulty in reading.

Either way this should get better in the next day or so. Otherwise check in with your doctor when she returns.
