What Do You Need to Do?

The message board you're used to will be closing in the coming weeks. While many of your boards will be making the move to our new home, your posts will not. Want to keep a discussion going? Tearing eyes at weird times
    An_248165 posted:
Sometimes when I am nervous, my eyes will tear up and make it look like I am ready to cry. This happens frequently (multiple times per week), and is not related to any subject that I am thinking about other than being nervous. I am almost 50. Other symptoms include sporadic headaches from eye strain, waking up to eyes filled with gunk in the mornings. This is getting more frequent and has been happening for about a year. Could I be having a mini-panic attack and the tearing be a symptom of that panic attack? Or is this a medical issue that someone has heard of before?
    Alan M Kozarsky, MD responded:
It is possible that your "teary" eyes and your accumulation of gunk in the morning could be related to a "plumbing" problem in which there is normal outflow pathway for tears from your eye to our nose and throat is partially or completely blocked. This can be investigated by an ophthalmologist during a full exam.

Otherwise, I can't think of a convincing way to put together your nervousness, headaches, panic issues, and tearing.
