Smoking and Diabetes and Cataracts

Alan M Kozarsky, MD posted:
Just in case we needed yet another reason to adopt healthy living habits, a recently published study has connected tobacco smoking and diabetes with the development of cataract .

A cataract is the clouding of the natural internal lens of the eye. When a cataract advances, vision decreases and surgery is required to restore normal vision.

So, add cataract formation and the need for eye surgery to all of the other great reasons not to smoke and to adopt all of the healthy living patterns to prevent diabetes.
