in july i had a work related injury that broke my eye socket and nasal/sinus cavity. left a 6' scar down the front of my face. in the past few months i have experienced more headaches and sinus issues then i ever have. could the damage that was done to my sinus cavity be causing all this and is this something that i will just have to live with?

I am sorry that you are having continuing problems six months after your injury.

An orbital blowout fracture typically occurs then there is a severe blunt injury to the eye/face during which the compressed contents of the eye socket cause a crack in the thin floor of the eye socket which is also the roof of the maxillary sinus. Problems which can occur after include difficulty with eye movement with double vision, a sunken appearance to the eye as well as sinus and eye socket infection.

Most people that suffer blowout fractures of the orbit generally make a good recovery, whether or not surgery is needed to repair the crack in the eye socket. On the other hand, the crack in the eye socket floor, without or without surgical hardware, can make you susceptible to sinus infections, some of which can become severe and require intensive antibiotic treatment.

Therefore, if you have continuing discomfort or pain, you need to promptly tell your treating doctors with the thought that sinus infection may be present and need antibiotic treatment.
