    Exciting News for WebMD Members!

We've been busy behind the scenes building new message boards for you. You'll have new and easier ways to find messages, connect with others, and share your stories.

And, this will all be available on your smartphone or other mobile device!

What Do You Need to Do?

The message board you're used to will be closing in the coming weeks. While many of your boards will be making the move to our new home, your posts will not. Want to keep a discussion going? Save posts you want to continue (this includes your member profile story), so that you can re-post them in the new message boards.

Keep an eye here and on your email inbox, we'll be back in touch soon to give you all the information you need!

    Blurred Vision

I am a 49 year old Caucasian female. My question is: Sometimes, I rest my arm over my eyes. When I take it off, I can't see well. Everything is very blurry. I used to be able to do this a few years back, but not any more. I don't understand why the pressure of my arm against my eyes is making things blurry now. It takes about 5 to 20 minutes for the blurring to clear. I try not to do this, but it has been a comfortable position for me and difficult to remember not to do this. I also get blurred vision after having done a craft that requires me to look closely at what I am doing. I think it is time for an eye exam.

Wondering if you are experiencing presbyopia, a normal phenomenon in which vision, especially near vision for most people, becomes blurred and there is an increasing dependence on glasses for near vision.

Resting your arm on your eyes may be temporarily flattening your corneas which would exaggerate this tendency.

I agree that its time for a full eye exam.
