Contact Lenses

PIlotRyan posted:
I started wearing contact lenses last fall. I wear soft lenses. I have noticed my uncorrected vision has worsened. When I wear my glasses or contacts I can see 20/20. My eye sight has really goten bad when I am not wearing glasses or contacts. I have heard this may be normal. Thoughts?

Alan M Kozarsky, MD responded:
It may be a normal process for your basic refractive error (nearsightedness or farsightedness) to get worse during your adult life. If so, this would affect your vision when you are not wearing correction.

To know for sure, you need a full exam with your eye doctor. It will be even more precise in terms of determining your actual refractive error if you leave out soft contact lenses for three days or gas perm lenses for two week prior to such a measurement.
