Herpes in the Eye
An_244257 posted:
I occasionally get the Herpes virus in and around my eye. I have medication for both. Yet sometimes my eye gets almost purple and it hurts really bad. The only way to describe the pain is that when I blink, it feels like someone is pushing really hard on my eyeball. When it is open, it is just fine. My eye doctor said it is just missing some layers of the protective skin so I am more prone to getting it infected, and prescribed me antibiotic eye drops. They don't work. He's not sure what else could be going on. I am open to any ideas...
Alan M Kozarsky, MD responded:
Since herpes simplex infection of the eye can be a big problem I would advise a visit to a specialist with all the best tools to help you.

Start with and choose "find an eye MD". Then search for a "cornea" or "cornea and external disease" specialist.
