On clear nights we like to take our kids out to look at the stars and point out constellations. We take a blanket and a thermos of hot cocoa and find a good open field. (We just happen to have one by our house, but lots of playgrounds and sports complexes have open spaces.)

We drink our cocoa and then lie back and check out the night sky.
