About 10 years ago I i was diagnosed with plantar fasciitis. After 2 cortisone shots which helped I was fitted for custom orthotic shoe inserts.I hadn't worn them for a couple of years because my heel pain was gone. Recently the plantar fasciitis came back. I believe it was from Levaquin I took for cellulitis in my hand (it's better now). I got another shot and started wearing my orthotics again. They are wearing out because they're now 10 years old. I really don't want to get another pair from the podiatrist because they'll probably cost me anywhere from $200.00-300.00 like they did 10 years ago.I bought some from a store which are thicker and higher (in the arch). They have to be broken in for a few hours a day according to the instructions. My question is has anybody use custom fitted orthotics first and then later went and bought some at a store or online? If so, did they work better than the fitted pair?
