No tendon on great toe...now great problems

I had originally ripped the tendon on my great toe and foot area playing softball..there was too much damage to repair it so they removed it (the tendon) and put in a pin, the pin had to be removed a yr later. The doc had me keep it taped for about 4mths. Apparently the idea was to keep my big toe from moving away from the other toes. It did help, but only for awhile. I now live with my big toe (left foot) spread apart from the others, cannot move it left to right without some great concentration, can move it with my hands over to the left and there is no pain. I can't wear sandles or hardly any open toed shoes because they cut into my toe or my toe slides off the side of the shoe. This is a pain in the summer. The tennis shoes I do wear only last a little while because when I walk and my toe hits the floor its spreads further out (because there is no tendon) and makes a hole in my shoe or mishapes my shoe terribly. I am wondering if anyone might be able to tell me if I have any options getting this taken care of. Not sure if I need to go back to a Podiatris or some other specialist...This inury has also caused me the have another injury in the same foot same toe..Dislocation, that was very painful.
