Ankle arthroscopy with debridement

I was in a head on car accidnet almost 7 years ago, Broke both lower leg bones and ankle. I now have a plate and 10 screws that are causing me lots of pain. The cartlidge in my joint is just about gone and after 6 years of cortizone shots I needed to change something. I was pain all of the time and couldn't keep up with my two young kids (I am only 34). After seeing a new doctor in January I began getting gel injections into my ankle to try and take the place of the cartlidge. Sadly after 5 injections this only made it worse. I was referred to a foot and ankle specialist who is trying something new since I have too much movement for fusion, and I am too young for a replacement. He is going to perform an ankle arthoscopy with debridement. Basically he will go in and clean out the joint, take a look at how much cartilidge is there and shave down the bone spurs that I now have. We are hoping that this will give me a better range of motion. Has anyone else had this surgery? If so how do you feel now? I am a little nervous that this might not make a difference and I will be very dissapointed!!
