Numb big toe occasionally

I experience numbness in my right big toe when running. It started about 2 months ago after i came back from a week of skiing in Tahoe. I am 55 yrs old, 195 lbs at 6'-01". I run about 3-4 days a week, 3 miles at a time (about 8 min/mi pace) and lift weights twice a week. a short while after I stop running, (by the time i finish my shower at the gym) the numbness is gone and feels normal. There is no pain. I usually just run through it but it is uncomfortable. The toe is a bit white and cold to the touch immediately after running. It will also happen after i have been on my feet for several hours working in my yard - gardening type work. However, wearing slippers in my house causes no problem. When Sitting and sleeping, no numbness is experienced. I am not diabetic. Its only on one foot and not sure of the possible causes. Thanks.
