I'm looking for some advice on a foot injury I got a few months ago (early November). Just for some background, I'm an avid runner, but I don't believe that's the cause of the problem. My pain started literally the day after going bowling for a friend's birthday, which I believe is the result of the bowling shoes being too tight.
Anyway, after bowling I ran the next day and immediately felt a large amount of pain in my left foot (my right foot was/is unaffected) when the foot transitioned from striking the ground to going on the balls of my foot. It hurt even walking for the first few days, but slowly got better. I went to the doctor and was given an X-Ray (negative) and some NSAIDs for the pain. I thought it had got better, but after running a few weeks later I felt pain again the next day.
Right now, the problem is pain on the arch (somewhat -- it's hard to explain) and top of my foot. Basically, it hurts right before the forefoot on the bottom of my foot (around the front of the arch), and the top of my foot also hurts -- almost like there's a pinching in both spots at times. If I flex my foot downward, I can feel a painful (not high on a scale of one to ten, but it's there) sensation on the top of my foot. If I'm not on my feet it's hard to tell, but walking I can feel it. It's not an overwhelming pain, but it is definitely noticeable, and I don't want to start running again and risk injuring it further.
Does anyone have any advice? Should I just continue to wait for it to heal? I'm trying my best not to self-diagnose, but I'm not sure if there's any nerve or muscular problems I should be worried about. (Feel free to ask me questions, as I'm sure I haven't done the best job explaining my problem.)
