Just wondering doctor, can someone take lyrica and cymbalta? Does it cause sleepiness? I want to try it if my doc agrees, but just wondering if they can be taken with each other. Not nessecarily at the same dose time?

They are two different types of meds, and yes, many have successfully used both at the same time. I'm not a doc, but have seen this combo!

Good luck!

Yes, many people take both of these medications. Lyrica commonly causes dizziness, sleepiness, fogginess, weight gain, fluid retention, carb craving and several other things.

Cymbalta also has a long list of potential side effects. I suggest checking out "Related Drug Reviews" on the bottom right of this board.

You got some great responses! Yes these two meds can be used together. They work on different nerve targets so they have different mechanisms of action. I often use different medicine combos in my patients to try to get better reduction in pain (and improved function) and watch for any persistent side effects. Your doctor will be able to review specific medicines for you and potential benefits, side effects or drug interactions.

I've been on Cymbalta and Lyrica for over a year now, and I am doing GREAT! I've had fibro for 13 years; this is the first combo that has made me forget some days that I have it. I was on Oxycontin 8 tabs a day prior to this, plus numerous other meds that really didn't do anything. I do take Trazodone at night to help with sleep. I feel like I have my life back!

Lezbeeann,
I take Lyrica, and it knocks me on my tush. I am only on100mg and I have tried and tried to increase the dosage to only become severly nausated and so tired all I want to do is sleep all day. Not to mention the severe anxiety that goes along with the increase. So, I am happily just going to stay at 100mg and find another to deal with the pain, vicoden is a better choice vs. throwing up and feeling so anxious I do not even like myself. :(...

As for cymbalta I have not tried, so I am unable to answer that. I just can relate to the feeling tired all the time. Even at 100 mg , and I take 50 mg in the morning and 50 mg at bedtime I still need a nap. So, if you are looking for a nap buddy, I am here! :)

Hugs,
Gin
