Hello and welcome.....MiMi in NC.....you might have rib pain or Costochondritis....but you always need to get seen by a doctor to verify that this is what you have....it does feel like a person is having a heart attack...and it hurts me to breathe when I have it....I have had several bouts of it on the right side, left side and in the back also.....the first time I had it....I was also thinking that I was having a heart attack since I hurt so bad....my son took me by the fire department first and a paramedic took my blood pressure which was extremely high...and they also hooked me up for a electrocardigram which prints out what is going on with a person's heart....
He then told me that he thought I needed to go to the ER...
And I went....I actually stayed overnight....but they could not find anything wrong with my heart....the doctors then told me that I needed to rest, take aleve and use moist heating pad....the aleve did nothing for me...and my daughter told me that I should try the Advil (gel)....I did and this helped me...but again...it takes time....there is nothing quick to fix anything that goes on with the wrath of the dragon, aka FM....
This is not a good feeling....but agian....I encourage you to be sure and get checked out by a doctor....which is so very important....we can not blame everything we have on FM....because it might be something else...
I have been there done that...I hope you will feel better soon...
I would also encourage you to be sure and ask your doctor to check your Vitamin D level...which is so very important for a lot of people....low Vitamin D can cause additional pain for us...it is a simple blood test...but you MUST ASK the doctor to run it....as it is not included (yet) in the bloodwork that they normally do....
I would also encourage you to check out the info under "Tips" and "Resources" to the right of this page....you will find some good "tools and tips" that might help you cope better.....
Take care and good luck...
MiMi
