Autonomic Nervous System and Fibro

I never knew sweating had anything to do with Fibro, but I was sure along with all my other problems that I have that the autonomic nervous system was involved. I have been sweating for years, and the sweat is so profuse, that it wears me out completely. I sweat for hours at a time once I start, and I really try not to start, but living in FL is a problem with that. Are there any herbs that can help with the sweating?? Now I understand why I am nervous for no reason, and other "fibro" symptoms. The reason I ask about herbal supplements is because I am on so many prescription drugs for fibro, and all the pain syndromes attached to it, that I simply can''t justify another script for something that I can deal with (although uncomfortably). I am on Cymbalta 120mg, Clonopin, Prevecid, three thyroid meds, a statin, two narcotics for a horrendous back, triptans for migraines, nausea meds, water pill for all the fluid that I gain from the gabapentin that I have to take....I think that you get the picture. I do take tons of supplements all ok'd by the doctor, but as the years go by, I feel worse, not better. I have tried to get off as many of the scripts as possible, but it simply isn't possible. Any suggestions?? Also, as soon as I got fibro, my menstrual cycle stopped. That was 17 years ago, and the doctor checks me every other year to see if I am in menopause (how would I know with all my problems??). Thanks, Msfino
PS: I'm glad that I'm not crazy!

Hello, and welcome. I'm sorry you're having that horrible sweating...I live in AL, and I know with the heat and humidity it makes it worse. I do know that cymbalta causes sweating, and that 120 is kind of a high dose. I wonder if you could talk to your doctor about lowering it some?

I don't know about the other meds causing sweating, but you could look them up to see if they list that as a side effect.

I'm not aware of any herbs for sweating. I hope you get relief soon. Sorry I couldn't have been more helpful. But I'd check into that cymbalta.

Take care....Elizabeth

Hello, sorry you're having soo much trouble. I also have a lot of sweating.I am also from Alabama (like War Eagle )where the heat and humidity are unbearable some months.I stay indoors with the air on as low as I can and a fan blowing in my face as much as possible. It is the only way I have found to combat this problem.Still I have times when i have sweat running down my face.
I have tried working with my meds to see if they might be causing the problem but that doesn't seem to be the case. This has really affected my ability to do anything outdoors during the summer. I have about deided that this is something Ill just have to live with so I don't get far from my fan.
When my kids are here they know to dress warm or get a blanket, lol.Of course our utility bill is always over $500 a month but my husband would rather pay it than have to live with me when I get as grouchy as I do when I am so hot and sweaty. GOD love him !!! I really hope you find a solution and PLEASE share if you do. ROLL TIDE !!!

Thank you all so much with the tips. For mama, I carry around one of those walmart fans on batteries, ESP. when I am outside. But honestly, when I do go outside, which is not often enough I run to the car. My husband KNOWS to turn on the A/C before I get in, and I understand about keeping the house cold!! Because my children are gone, we turn off all the vents to that side of our house, and that helps with the electric bill.
